What is Black Friday?
Originating right here in the USA, Black Friday is the biggest shopping event of the year. Kick-starting the festive shopping season, brands all over the world offer discounts and deals both online and in-store.
When is Black Friday 2020?
Black Friday is always the day after Thanksgiving, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Black Friday 2020 is on Friday 27th November (Cyber Monday is the following Monday, and is a huge day for online shopping).
Why is it called Black Friday?
A popular explanation is that Black Friday is one of the best days for retailers, with profits causing them to move from ‘the red’ into ‘the black’. Another is that the day after Thanksgiving was always a huge day for shopping, and it was nicknamed Black Friday due to the sheer volume of shoppers causing huge traffic jams and over-crowding.
