First stop, The Golden City. Think boat rides, the view from the bay and that bridge from all the postcards. The inspiring Steve and Sarah – two innovators, adventurers and self-prescribed 'bread snobs' – show us the highlights and hidden treasures of this unforgettable city; with plenty of sailing, sea air and sunsets along the way. First things first, we’re off to Tartine for the Mission District’s best cup of coffee, before it’s out onto the water with the San Francisco Sailing Co for a up, close and personal view of Alcatraz.
Cliffs, ocean and miles of untouched beauty, Big Sur’s natural wonder is California through and through. With seals, style and some in-the-know stop-offs thrown in, private chef Katie Brunton serves up local delicacies overlooking the crashing waves at Big Surific Lodging. Picking up a quick breakfast from Big Sur Bakery, it’s then on to see the wildlife at Salmon Creek Falls.
Finishing off in the place our hosts call home, the City of Angels is our final stop on this epic journey. Awash with art galleries, culture hubs and even more famous coastlines, our California adventure takes us surfing at Zuma beach then off to sample the Malibu seafood, courtesy of Christopher Tompkins at Broad St Oyster Co. Last but not least, we soak up the sun at Venice Beach and stop off for pizza and cocktails at Great White Café.
