When it comes to places to see and be seen, not many know better than Ted. In this series, he’s exploring hidden gems, great eateries and wondrous places to hang out near his shops, all around the world. Excitingly for Orlando, Florida, Ted has just opened a brand new store at The Mall at Millenia. Inspired by fairgrounds from the past, it’s a fresh and typically Ted backdrop to his quirky new collections.
TED SPIED: the KENNEDY SPACE CENTER
Just an hour’s drive outside of Orlando, you too can go on an outer-space adventure. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex allows you to experience the past, present, and future of the United States’ space program in the location of NASA’s historic launches. Florida’s gateway to space became Ted’s very own inspiration gateway with numerous eras of space exploration and discovery to get lost among. His favorite feature? The ‘Now & Next’ exhibit, as Ted has always understood the significance of knowing where you’re going, while never forgetting where you’ve been.
TED DINED: at THE RAVENOUS PIG
Finding a spot to dine like the locals within a city of tourists is not always an easy task, so Ted channeled a certain British detective to discover the best eats back in town. Through his hard-hitting investigative work, Ted found The Ravenous Pig atop the locals’ list of where to eat in the magical city of Orlando. Using ingredients sourced from within the Sunshine State, the gastropub’s menu changes seasonally to offer the peak flavors of the time. From brunch to dinner, The Ravenous Pig is indisputably delicious, whatever the time of year.
TED EXPLORED: WEKIWA SPRINGS STATE PARK
Taking an escape from the hustle and bustle of Orlando’s more traditional attractions, Ted always makes for Wekiwa Springs State Park when he’s in town. From fishing to camping to hiking, Wekiwa has an option for anyone looking to explore their wild side. The nature-filled park’s thirteen miles of trails and Wekiva River offer plenty of scenery and wildlife unlike any theme park or city could offer. While visiting the park, Ted took to the river with his fishing rod for a day of relaxation and inspiration.
TED SIPPED: at MATHERS SOCIAL GATHERING
Always one for a tipple in an unusual location, Ted wet his whistle at Mathers Social Gathering where he entered through a hidden door in the bookshelves of a 19th Century furniture store. The speakeasy-style bar offers patrons an escape from modernity back to the time of prohibition. Ted sipped on a Bathtub Gin complete with creamy bubbles and a fragrant finish, an appropriate tribute to the homemade brews made during the era.
TED STAYED: at the WALDORF ASTORIA
With countless resorts in Orlando, choosing the proper place to stay can be quite daunting. The Waldorf Astoria’s ultra relaxing amenities combined with a staff that treats you like family means that the resort is always Ted’s top pick. He particularly took a fancy to the vast amount of experiences to be had on the resort, from golf to the spa to the delicious dining. Ted suggests taking a day to indulge with a personalized treatment at the spa. Lovely jubbly!
